The Cataloguer

We specialise in documenting collections onto a computerised database which, if required, can then be made accessible on the internet. There are increasing demands to improve the accessibility of collections and publishing a catalogue on the web is the ideal way to achieve this. The visitor is no longer simply the individual who walks through the door during opening hours, but anyone who searches your website - worldwide at any time of the day or night. The potential benefits for researchers, the genealogist or an interested member of the public are massive.

We can document a collection from scratch, working with the collection itself, or from existing paper records (list, card index or accession register). Assessing the state of existing documentation is an important part of what we do in order to eliminate the duplication of effort and thereby to minimise costs.

Digital images can be produced and added to the database to bring the words alive. We scan or photograph selected, important objects; these images not only make the catalogue entry detailed and attractive, but can also encourage enquiries for further information from the researcher.

All our contracts are professionally project-managed using performance targets agreed with the client. We agree at the outset indicators for the number of records to be created, the time the work will take and quality standards required.

Using thecataloguer is the most cost-effective way to document a collection to the highest professional standards.
